Major Les Hiddins’ interest in bush food began over ten years ago when he began research into bush foods for the Australian Army, recording special survival resources of Australia’s vast Top End. Today it is the Aboriginal people who hold the key to survival and they are central to Les’s research.

The fascinating Bush Tucker Man series seen on ABC-TV showed how even in remote deserts and on a sandy beaches, fresh water can be found - if you know where to look for it.

This video, containing the last four episodes of the series, follows Major Hiddins through the most northern Queensland coastline and the Gulf Country, through the west coast of Cape York where the first known sighting of Australia took place by Europeans.
